Your Journey to Becoming an IMCC-Certified Mentor

Start Your
Credentialing
Journey

Step 1: Choose Your Credential Level

Begin by identifying the credential level that best represents your current mentoring experience and goals.

Each level- Associate, Executive, or Mentor-in-Chief-has specific training and experience requirements.

If you’ve completed training with an IMCC-accredited partner, you can apply directly.

If your training was through another institution, you’ll first complete IMCC’s short

Credentialing Assessment to verify alignment with our competencies.

Tip: Review our Level Comparison Guide to understand which level suits your experience,
mentoring hours, and focus area.

Step 2: Register & Create Your Applicant Profile

Once you’ve selected your level, create your IMCC Applicant Profile on our portal. Your profile will serve as your personal dashboard to upload documents, track progress, and receive updates from the credentialing team.

You’ll be asked to:

  • Confirm your professional and academic background
  • Declare your mentoring experience and specialization
  • Acknowledge IMCC’s Code of Ethics

Upon submission, you’ll receive an acknowledgement email with your unique application ID and next steps.

Step 3: Complete the Credentialing Assessment

If your training was not completed through an IMCC-accredited organization, you will be required to take a Credentialing Assessment.

This assessment ensures your learning outcomes, ethics, and mentoring competencies meet IMCC standards.

It includes:

  • An online knowledge test based on IMCC’s core mentoring framework
  • A short reflective submission or case-based scenario
  • Optional peer or evaluator interview (for higher levels)

Before registering for the assessment, you’ll be prompted to pay a Credentialing Assessment Fee.

This fee supports the evaluation process and certification review by qualified IMCC assessors.

Step 4: Submit Your Credential Application

Once eligibility and assessment (if required) are complete, proceed with your Credential Application Submission.

This is the formal process through which your training, ethics, mentoring hours, and reflective practice are reviewed.

Your application package typically includes:

  • Proof of training completion or IMCC course certificate
  • Mentoring hours log verified by mentees or supervisors
  • Ethics module acknowledgment
  • Reflective journaling, feedback forms, or case study submission
  • Updated resume or profile summary

At this stage, you will be required to pay a Credentialing Application Fee, which covers documentation verification, evaluator review, and administrative support for your certification process.

You will receive confirmation once your documents are verified and the application is moved to the evaluation stage.

Step 5: Evaluation & Panel Review

Your application is then reviewed by an IMCC Credentialing Panel, comprising certified evaluators who assess your submission against IMCC’s 13 Core Competencies and ethical standards.

Depending on your level, the evaluation may include:

  • A recorded or live peer-review discussion
  • Review of your mentoring case or project
  • Validation of your logged hours and client feedback

IMCC follows a transparent evaluation process where every applicant is reviewed independently by at least two assessors before final decision.

Step 6: Receive Your Credential

Upon successful completion, you will:

  • Receive your digital certificate and badge through the IMCC platform
  • Be listed in the IMCC Global Mentor Registry
  • Gain access to your personal Mentor Dashboard to track CPD (Continuing Professional Development Hours) hours, renewal dates, and feedback insights

You’ll also receive an email confirmation with your credential details and access to download your verification badge for sharing on LinkedIn or other professional profiles.

Step 7: Ongoing Growth & Renewal

Your credential remains valid for a Three years, after which renewal ensures your knowledge, ethics, and mentoring practice stay current.

The renewal process includes CPD hour submission, ethics recommitment, and reflective learning review – all accessible through your Mentor Dashboard.

IMCC will notify you well in advance of renewal windows to ensure a smooth continuation of your credential status.
